This section contains biographies of FOTOfusion presenters that will be present this year.
John Kreidler is East Coast Product Specialist for Leica Camera and has more than 20 years’ experience in providing imaging and production insight to professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Not only does John know about cameras, he is also very interested in visual storytelling. He has been chosen as one of seventy photographers worldwide to be published in a book “Inspiration Leica Akademie”. His contribution is in the early morning and evening light photography section. John enjoys sharing his knowledge with others and frequently conducts workshops, dealer events and product training to professional photographers, sales staff and enthusiasts.
His mantra is “I want to make more than beautiful images. I want to craft images that tell a story and connect the viewer to the subject. No words needed.”
Evan Jane Kriss is an accomplished photographic editor, director and content curator who conceives compelling creative solutions and produces engaging content for a range of media outlets. Recently a Contract Business Affairs Manager in Marcom (Marketing & Communications) at Apple, curating, developing and licensing content used in marketing deliverables to demonstrate functionality in various Apple devices. Presently a Reviewer with Eyeist, a unique online portfolio/project reviewing service for amateur and professional photographers, and a Judge of WildCare’s annual photography contest. Formerly a Content Curator with Catch&Release Television, Photo Editor of The Washington Post Magazine, Picture Editor at The New York Times Magazine, and a Photo Researcher/Editor and Photo Contest Editor at Time Magazine.
Erika Larsen is a multidisciplinary storyteller who believes that photography is one of the most important ways to explore our understanding of time. She is fascinated by the way we communicate with nature and often focuses on people that maintain strong relationships to the natural world. Her monograph ‘Sami-Walking with Reindeer’, a reflection of her time living in the Scandinavian Arctic, was published in 2013. Larsen was a 2017 Fellow with National Geographic Society for an ongoing project exploring how ritual can help us communicate our relationship to liminality, consciousness, and daily life.
Richard P. Liebowitz, Esq. is an attorney and photographer who focuses on intellectual property law related to copyrights, at Liebowitz Law Firm, PLLC. He is a 16-year member of the New York Press Photographers Association (NYPPA) and has produced award-winning photojournalism. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Hofstra Law School, Richard now helps his fellow photographers and other artists around the world resolve their copyright infringements and protect their work, on a contingency basis. As a fellow photographer, he understands where artists are coming from and he is passionate about helping the creative community.
J. Tomas Lopez is Professor and Chair of the Department of Art and Art History. Professor Lopez has degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from Fordham University, a Master of Media Arts in Film and Video, and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography and Modernist Theory from the University of South Florida. He has been awarded the Florida Individual Artist Grant, the Cintas Foundation Fellowship, and the NEA Award in the Visual Arts as well as other national and international fellowships. He is nationally and internationally known for his large-scale digital prints ranging from underwater photographs of the nude figure, politically charged iconic flags, and a series of riders on the Metro system in six cities around the world. Professor Lopez has been showcased in over three hundred fifty group exhibitions and thirty-five solo exhibitions. His work is included in many permanent collections: The Library of Congress, (DC) The Smithsonian Institution, National Gallery of American Art, La Biblioteque Nationale de France (Paris), The International Museum of Photography, the Museum of Modern Art, (NY) and in many other museums, public and private collections.
His work has been exhibited across the United States, Europe, China, Japan, and in numerous publications. He has been with the University of Miami since 1994 where he lives and works with his wife, Carol Todaro.
Robin Loznak award-winning nature and editorial photographer based in rural western Oregon. Spent 20 years as a newspaper photojournalist in Montana and Oregon. Currently, he is a contract photographer with the ZUMA Press Wire Service. Featured worldwide in magazines, websites, and books. Loznak is known for his quirky and intimate wildlife images. Since 2015 he has been closely following a group of young Americans as they ﬁght, a landmark climate change lawsuit against the federal government. When not taking pictures, he raises hazelnuts on his family owned 500-acre ranch in Oregon.
Scott Mc Kiernan, a photojournalist who became a media industry pioneer and leader. Leadership of ZUMA Press, as well as decades of wide-ranging experience in photography, has proven to be instrumental in establishing the world’s largest independent editorial photo agency. In 1993, he launched the net's first online downloadable database for editorial pictures. A quarter-century later, ZUMA is the agent to the world's most respected photographers (3,000+), newspapers (300+), photo agencies (90+) and national wire services (30+) and over 50+ million images online moving 30K important images daily to every country in the world. 2016 Mc Kiernan won NPPA's prestigious Jim Gordon Editor of the Year Award, for DOUBLEtruck Magazine and zReportage.com. Most recently awarded a Society of Professional Journalists Picture Editor award and was a Communication Arts 2019 winner for his stellar photography of the 2018 Winter Olympics. He is a proud member of the Board of the Palm Beach Photographic Centre.
Mark Murrmann has been Photo Editor at Mother Jones since 2007. He came to the magazine with a background as a music photographer and photojournalist, working as a contract photographer with ZUMA Press. He studied at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism and then in London as a student winner of the Alexia Foundation Photography Grant.
Ranieri is an athlete, a photographer, a world traveler, and an influencer. Ranieri has been called to inspire people to become the very best version of themselves. Ranieri was born and raised in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, and currently resides in Miami FL. Ranieri is on a journey of creating content to empower, elevate, and encourage people, through everyday inspiration and revelation!
Rob Passman, East Coast Retail Channel Manager for Leica Camera has been making photographs with Leicas for 20 years. During this time, he has enjoyed teaching and learning from the company’s many enthusiastic devotees, while introducing numerous others to the storied brand.
Rob met his wife in the photo industry, and together they’re raising a son and daughter. Their children provide the perfect subject matter to engage his love of photography and cameras, and the cameras help him document the rapid changes as their children grow up.
